The Outsiders is an enduring work of fiction written by S.E. Hinton who wrote the book when she was only 16 years old. It was published in 1967 and was made into a brilliant and timeless movie in 1983. The Outsiders movie starred C. Thomas Howell (Ponyboy), Matt Dillon (Dallas), Ralph Macchio (Johnny), Patrick Swayze (Darrel), Rob Lowe (Sodapop), Emilio Estevez (Two-Bit), and Tom Cruise (Steve).
